From a patient’s perspective…

Patients can easily access information about ADHD, and the quality of that information varies widely. Many patients seek connection with other patients in similar circumstances, so it’s important that you are equipped to offer guidance about the way that connection happens. You can help patients find good data, and not just from the medical and scientific perspectives.

Check out this TED talk by a woman with ADHD who operates her own YouTube channel. Consider the story of her diagnosis and treatment from the human perspective rather than that of a clinician. Our patients are humans, after all…

About Us!

This site was created by three students at the University of Virginia for a class assignment. It was designed to be an accessible resource for clinicians, providing current, evidence-based recommendations and supplemental materials for the diagnosis and management of Attention Deficit / Hyperactivity Disorder in the primary care setting. This site is not intended to advise patients, and should not replace care or guidance from a primary care provider.

All three contributors earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Virginia. All are Certified Emergency Nurses, members of Sigma Theta Tau (Beta Kappa Chapter), and are currently graduate students in the Family Nurse Practitioner program at the University of Virginia.
